Member companies are invited to participate in the Brazil-U.S. Business Council's 2010 Mission to Brasília, to be held on June 7-10, 2010 in Brasília, Brazil. During the Mission, the Council will lead a delegation of senior level corporate executives from the Council's U.S. section to Brasília for three days of meetings with government ministers and other top officials, as well as the leadership of key regulatory agencies, to advance dialogue with the government on member priorities.

The Mission will enable you to establish or advance a direct dialogue with key Brazilian government officials, help you better understand their policy positions, and work with the Brazil-U.S. Business Council as we develop strategies to allow your company to take full advantage of the opportunities the Brazilian market has to offer. Some of the policy priorities we will advance during our visit to Brasília are the following:

  • The launching of negotiations of a bilateral tax treaty between Brazil and the United States;
  • The implementation of initiatives aimed at facilitating bilateral trade, including expediting customs clearance and other customs modernization procedures;
  • The protection of intellectual property and promotion of innovation with the objective of fostering economic and social development;
  • The implementation of a public-private dialogue among ANVISA, FDA and the private sectors of both countries to discuss mechanisms to increase the alignment and rationalization of disparate agency requirements, including but not limited to those related to facility inspections.
