March 4 - Roundtable with Brazilian Senate Leader

Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 3:00pm

Please join the Brazil-U.S. Business Council for a roundtable discussion with Senator Ideli Salvatti. Senator Salvatti, a leader at the Brazilian Senate, will share with participants some initiatives she is leading to improve the business environment in Brazil. This will also be a great opportunity for Brazil-U.S. Business Council members and select guests to communicate to the Senator the priority issues that must addressed to enable an increase in trade and investment flows between Brazil and the United States.

Among the issues to be discussed will be the importance of a bilateral tax treaty between Brazil and the United States. A brief contextualization of the issue, including the actual state of play and obstacles that must be overcome before treaty negotiations can progress will be given by the following guests:

Laura Lane
Senior Vice President for International Government Affairs
Citigroup

Julio Castro
Tax Expert and Partner
Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP

Other relevant issues will also be addressed based on the group discussion that will follow the initial remarks by the Senator and our guest speakers.

Senator Salvatti is a very influential member of Congress and may become a great ally of the Council as we work to further member company priorities in Brazil and promote the improvement of Brazil-U.S. Relations broadly.
