This meeting is exclusive to BUSBC Members and is closed to press.
Please join the Trade and Regulation Task Force for a meeting with Otaviano Canuto, Vice President and Head for Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network, World Bank. During this meeting, the Task Force will engage in the important and necessary discussion of how to pursue effective industrial policy in Brazil in the area of high technology. This is especially timely with last Friday's announcement of 2012 GDP growth at a modest 0.9%. Specifically, Otaviano Canuto recently published a World Bank study, titled "Brazilian exports : climbing down a competitiveness cliff," on Brazil's export performance over the past 15 years. The study looks at factors inhibiting exports and industrial production expansion, as well as the need for an agenda of microeconomic reforms, increase in the investment-to-gross domestic product ratio, and advancement toward better-skilled human capital.
