Brazil's public sector posted a record monthly public sector primary budget surplus in January following heavy tax receipts and a robust central government result during the month. The Brazilian Central Bank on Wednesday said the country's consolidated public-sector primary budget surplus, or operating surplus, widened to R$30.25 billion in the month from R$22.25 billion in December. The latest figures come after the government registered a 13% increase in monthly tax collection in January to R$116 billion.
