Customs Modernization Working Group

Working Group Activities:

• Promote the implementation of customs modernization measures in Brazil and in the United States and business facilitation between both countries.
   
• Work with the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (CAMEX) to ensure that the multiple agencies that participate in customs processes work in an integrated and effective manner to reduce clearance times.
   
• Work with Brazil-U.S. Business Council member companies to develop a strategy to encourage the Brazilian government to lift restrictions on the importation of remanufactured parts across multiple sectors.
   
• Partner with the U.S. Department of Commerce and others to bring Brazilian customs officials to the United States to continue the dialogue on the ongoing modernization of the express delivery in Brazil, from both a logistics and regulatory perspective, as well as to promote events in Brazil to exchange best practices on customs modernization. 
   
• Engage the Brazilian government in a dialogue to promote changes in import regulations that require very detailed and burdensome IT product description for the purpose of customs valuation in the import process.
