AB InBev, the huge Belgian-Brazilian capital brewery, on Wednesday announced the acquisition of Britain’s SABMiller brewery for the equivalent of some $106 billion in one of the largest such transactions in history. The combined company will be the largest brewery in the world. The companies announced that SABMiller will sell some of its brands in order to avoid anti-trust objections. AB InBev is itself the product of a series of mergers, including merger of Brazil’s AmBev and Belgium’s Interbrew.
