Brazilian President Michel Temer on Tuesday began a week-long visit to China saying his main task there will be attracting Chinese investment to Brazilian infrastructure projects. In a video-taped statement, Temer said, “China could well be a great source of investment in the concession projects announced last week.” Last week, the Brazilian government announced a package of 57 concessions and privatizations covering a wide variety of infrastructure projects. Temer said China has expressed special interest in power, highways, rails and ports. Temer will begin his trip with a state visit to China then stay on for a meeting of BRICS countries heads of state. The BRICS countries are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Temer will meet with top Chinese officials and business leaders. He is expected to sign accords with the Chinese government in areas including trade, investment and visas.
