The Brazilian Central Bank on Wednesday night voted unanimously to hold its base interest rate steady at 14.25 percent. It was the sixth “hold” order in a row for the base rate, which has remained unchanged since July of last year. In a brief statement, the bank noted progress in the fight against inflation but warned that continued vigilance was needed. Inflation recently dipped below the 10 percent mark for the first time this year.
