Brazil eliminates tariffs on hundreds of capital goods

September 16, 2019 by

Brazil´s government on Monday temporarily eliminated tariffs on hundreds of capital goods and data processing and telecommunications equipment. The list of goods covered by the order was published in Monday´s Federal Register (see link below). The list covers some 20 pages. Tariffs will remain at zero until the end of 2020. Tariffs on the products were previously in a range of 12% to 18%. The order was the latest in a series of tariff reductions. The government says cuts are necessary to spur investment in development projects and high-tech industries.
