Brazil grants Authorized Economic Operator status to five importers of agricultural products

October 26, 2017 by

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture has granted five major importers Authorized Economic Operator status for the Port of Santos, Brazil’s largest port. The importers are responsible for bringing in products used by Brazilian agribusinesses and farmers. The status is granted to companies which meet high standards of performance and probity. Under the system, inspectors use samples, rather than whole cargoes, in granting import authorizations. The system speeds up imports and reduces uncertainties and costs.
