Brazilian industrial production posted a small gain in October after three months of decline, the Brazilian Census Bureau (IBGE) said Tuesday. Output was up 0.2% against September, with 17 of 26 segments posting gains. October marked a full recovery from effects of a truck strike in May, IBGE economists said. October industrial production was up 1.1% from October of 2017. IBGE economists said industry was reacting to rising consumer demand for industrial goods generally, with durable goods in the lead because of historically low interest rates. The figures reinforce ideas that Brazil’s economic recovery is gaining momentum.
