Brazil’s Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday night approved a sweeping, government-sponsored labor reform bill, sending it to the full Senate for a vote. The bill has already been passed by the Chamber of Deputies. The vote was a victory for President Michel Temer, who has included the reform as part of his modernization drive. The bill would create more flexible labor rules and would favor collective bargaining over the current labor code.
