Brazilian Planning Minister Romero Jucá on Monday night announced he will take a leave-of-absence while police investigate accusations of possible obstruction of justice. Press reports Monday cited telephone taps by police allegedly showing Jucá in a conspiracy to obstruct corruption investigations into Jucá’s political allies. Earlier Monday, Jucá denied the charges. Monday night he said he will need a temporary leave-of-absence to prove his innocence.
