Brazil’s government posted a small public-sector budget deficit in November, but leaving 12-month budget performance within reach of calendar-year goals, the Central Bank said Thursday. The monthly public-sector deficit was R$909 million, reversing October’s surplus of R$4.8 billion. But the 12-month deficit declined from R$187 billion as of October to just R$149 billion as of November. Brazil’s goal for 2017 is a public-sector deficit no higher than R$163 billion. Central Bank officials said the goal is now within reach. Brazil will repeat the same performance target in 2018.
