Brazil prosecutors indict former President Lula

July 21, 2016 by

In the capital city of Brasília, Federal prosecutors on Thursday indicted former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and six others for obstruction of justice. The indictment stems from a sweeping investigation of corruption at state-run oil company Petrobras. Lula and the others are accused of attempting to buy the silence of a key witness in the investigation. Lawyers for Lula and the others indicted Thursday said the indictment was politically motivated.
