A report released Monday by government investigators recommends a suit against three major automakers, Fiat, Volkswagen and Ford, for alleged anti-trust violations in the sale of replacement parts for motor vehicles. Lawyers working for the National Anti-Trust Agency (CADE) sent their recommendation to CADE’s full board, which will vote to accept or reject it. The report alleges that the Brazilian units of the three companies have acted to systematically block efforts by independent manufacturers to distribute replacement parts to motor vehicle owners. Lawyers for the three companies denied the accusation, saying the only actions taken by the automakers are those designed to guarantee autopart quality.
