Brazil will waive its right to preferential treatment in the World Trade Organization in exchange for U.S. support for Brazil’s bid to join the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Ministry of Foreign Relation said in a statement Tuesday night. The decision was reached during Tuesday’s meeting in Washington between Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and U.S. counterpart Donald Trump. U.S. support for Brazil’s OECD application is not definitive. However, it is seen as highly supportive of Brazil’s bid.
