Controversial Brazilian investor Eike Batista was arrested Monday morning at Rio’s International Airport after exiting a flight from New York. Police said the entrepreneur surrendered willingly. He will be incarcerated at a Rio prison while facing charges of bribery and money laundering in connection with an ongoing investigation of former Rio de Janeiro governor Sérgio Cabral. Batista was once the richest person in Brazil; however, his empire of energy and mining companies began to crumble a decade ago after failing to produce profits.
