Brazilian Federal Police on Thursday executed 64 search warrants, including one at the Brasilia home of Agriculture Minister Blairo Maggi, as part of a wide-ranging corruption investigation. Police said Maggi is under investigation for alleged bribery during his two terms as governor of sprawling farm state Mato Grosso from 2003 through 2010. Police said Maggi is alleged to have paid bribes to members of the state assembly throughout his time as governor. As part of Thursday’s sweep, police are investigating alleged bribery, campaign finance irregularities and money laundering, they said.
