Brazilian diplomat Roberto Azevedo was re-elected Tuesday as director-general of the World Trade Organization. Azevedo ran for re-election as a consensus candidate, facing no organized opposition. He will serve another four-year term. In his first term, Azevedo advanced key agendas in the areas of trade facilitation and intellectual property protection. More recently, he has warned against rising pressures for protectionism among major trading countries.
