Brazil’s Bolsonaro backtracks: Will keep Labor Ministry

Brazilian President-elect Jair Bolsonaro will keep the nation’s Labor Ministry as a distinct Cabinet position, he told reporters in Brasília. During the recent campaign, Bolsonaro said he would abolish the Ministry, distributing some of its departments to other line ministries and eliminating others altogether. The strategy brought harsh criticism from labor leaders and political figures. He told reporters that labor “deserves” a position in the Cabinet.
