Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was released from a São Paulo hospital Wednesday following 18 days of recovery from surgery, a presidential spokesman said. In January, surgeons removed a colostomy bag and repaired Bolsonaro’s intestinal track. The operation was the last major step in recovery from a knifing incident in September. But the President’s hospital stay was lengthened by bouts with fever and other complications. Bolsonaro is expected to resume full presidential duties as early as Thursday. His first task will be to approve draft legislation to overhaul the nation’s bankrupt pension system. An administration proposal on pensions could be submitted to Congress as early as next week.
