Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff will tell a United Nations gathering in New York that congressional efforts to impeach her are unconstitutional and amount to a coup d’etat. Rousseff left Brasília for New York on Thursday and will take part in signing of an international environmental agreement at United Nations headquarters on Friday, Brazil’s official news agency said. Aides quoted by the news agency said she will use the occasion to denounce the impeachment drive against her. Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies voted last Sunday to impeach Rousseff, based on accusations of budget manipulation. The issue is now before the Brazilian Senate.
