Treasury Department Secretary Steven Mnuchin met today with more than 20 of the largest U.S. companies to discuss concrete items and initiatives for the strengthening of Brazil-U.S. relationship.
During the meeting, topics about how to improve Brazil’s business climate, including tax simplification and trade facilitation and volatility of the currency were raised. Sec. Mnuchin announced that the Brazilian Government has requested technical assistance for Brazil’s tax reform efforts.
Brazil-U.S. Business Council’s Executive Director, Cassia Carvalho, moderated the discussion with the business community and called for the U.S. to support Brazil’s accession to the OECD and for both countries to resume the Economic and Financial Dialogue and work towards a BTT and BIT.
