Brazil will harvest a grain and oilseeds crop of 223.4 million metric tons in 2019, 3.1% higher than in 2018, the Brazilian Census Bureau (IBGE) said Thursday. Hefty grain and oilseeds production in recent years has been critical to controlling inflation and boosting exports. Growers this year chose to boost planted area for export crops such as soybeans and cotton, while scaling back on domestic consumption crops such as wheat and rice.
