Experienced economist and executive Roberto Castello Branco will be the next head of Brazil’s largest state-run company, energy giant Petrobras. The announcement was made Monday by a spokesman for Brazilian President-elect Jair Bolsonaro. Castello Branco will take over from Ivan Monteiro, named earlier this year and widely regarded as an interim appointment. Castello Branco holds a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago. He has held executive positions in the Central Bank and in mining company Vale. He currently serves on the Petrobras board of directors.
