  • Ex-wife accuses Bolsonaro of theft, fraud. Hard-right presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro stole cash and jewels from a safe deposit box and hid assets during a divorce proceeding, the congressman’s ex-wife stated in a court deposition obtained by reporters. Bolsonaro denied the accusations. Former wife Ana Cristina Valle said the congressman had “an explosive temper” and acted deceitfully during their marriage. (see more)

 

  • Infection postpones Bolsonaro’s release from hospital. A spokesman for Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo said Congressman Jair Bolsonaro’s planned release Friday has been postponed because of a “light infection.” No new release date has been set. Bolsonaro currently leads polls ahead of October 7 voting. (see more)

 

  • Supreme Court injunction allows Lula to give interviews. Supreme Court Justice Ricardo Lewandowski handed down an injunction allowing former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to grant press interviews. Lula is currently in prison serving a 12-year sentence for corruption. (see more)
