• Latest CNT/MDA poll: Bolsonaro leads with 57% against 43% for Haddad. The latest poll by the MDA organization, taken for the National Transport Confederation (CNT), shows hard-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro with a shrinking but still impressive lead ahead of Sunday’s run-off election. The poll shows Bolsonaro with 57% of valid votes against 43% for leftist Fernando Haddad. Previous polls gave Bolsonaro 58% to 59%. (see more)

• CNI opposes Bolsonaro’s plan to create “super” ministry of economics. Hard-right presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro has pledged to create a single “super” ministry to coordinate economic policy. The ministry would merge the current ministries of finance, planning and industry. The National Confederation of Industry (CNI), in a statement, criticized the idea, saying Brazilian manufacturers need to preserve “the strong voice in government” which the current Ministry of Industry, Trade and Services gives them. • Facebook removes pages, profiles disseminating pro-Bolsonaro spam. As part of a drive against ‘fake news,’ the Brazilian unit of Facebook has removed 68 pages and 43 profiles of individuals and companies spreading false, misleading or incendiary information in favor of hard-right presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro has denied any involvement in disseminating campaign spam, saying he cannot control the actions of all his supporters. (see more)
