• Presidential candidate Bolsonaro stabbed, in serious condition, while campaigning. Conservative presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro was stabbed and seriously injured while campaigning Thursday in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. Doctors said his condition was serious but with no immediate risk to life. An alleged assailant and an accomplice were arrested, with police saying there was no evidence of a wider conspiracy. • Bolsonaro transferred to top São Paulo hospital. Presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro was transferred Friday from a hospital in Minas Gerais to the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, one of Brazil’s top medical facilities. Bolsonaro was wounded in a knife attack Thursday. (see more)

• Bolsonaro likely sidelined for weeks, other candidates suspend campaigning. Spokesmen for conservative presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro said the nominee will remained sidelined for at least a week and possibly longer after a stabbing incident in Minas Gerais. Bolsonaro was operated on Thursday evening. Doctors said they were able to stop internal bleeding, with good chances for recovery. Rival presidential candidates suspended their campaigns temporarily. • President Temer orders reinforced security for presidential candidates. Brazilian President Michel Temer lamented the stabbing incident Thursday which left conservative presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro hospitalized in serious condition. Temer ordered reinforced security for candidates in run-up to October’s presidential election. (see more)
