The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Brazil-U.S. Business Council applaud Brazil’s request for accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as part of a series of initiatives to advance adherence to high international standards of sustainable growth and inclusive development. This is a fundamental next step for Brazil, as it expands its role within OECD from a key partner to official member country.
If approved by the Organisation, the accession of Brazil will be strategic for Latin America in advancing the substantive debates on public policies carried out by its members, and will contribute to a multilateral and long-term commitment to the economic and social well-being throughout the region. The Council supports the efforts of the Brazilian administration and encourages its members to attend:
Workshop on Brazil’s Membership Request with OECD: Challenges and Opportunities
This workshop will educate private sector, stakeholders and government officials on the benefits of membership with the OECD. It will also provide a greater understanding of the OECD, its operational structure and work method, explaining the various steps of the adhesion process, the current status of Brazil’s application, and discussing the challenges and opportunities arising from a possible accession process.
