The Council hosts President Summits on the occasion of official meetings between the presidents of the United States and Brazil:
3rd Brazil-U.S. Business Summit
The Council hosted Her Excellency President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil and delegation for the 3rd Brazil – U.S. Business Summit. The summit brought together representatives of both the U.S. and Brazilian governments and the private sector to discuss the economic, trade, and investment partnership, as well as innovation and competitiveness. This summit revealed invaluable progress on trade facilitation, defense and healthcare issues between the U.S. and Brazil private sectors. Participants included Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber; Minister of Finance Joaquim Levy, Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade Armando Monteiro, Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, and many other government officials.
Vice President Biden Visit to Brazil
On May 29, 2013, Vice President Joseph R. Biden visited Rio de Janeiro to speak about US efforts to strengthen trade and security ties with Brazil. In Rio, he visited the Petrobras research center and met with Governor Sérgio Cabral and Mayor Eduardo Paes. He also spoke to the business community at Pier Maua on the U.S.- Brazil Partnership, an event with BUSBC members in attendance. BUSBC led a coalition that delivered a list of policy recommendations of the Brazil-U.S. private sector to Vice President Biden. The Coalition included the BUSBC/CEBEU, the U.S. Chamber, American Chamber of Commerce, American Chamber of Commerce – RJ, Brazil Industries Coalition, and the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry.
